Cost of recording 1 song + Mix and Master
– SGD1000.00 +SGD300.00 = SGD1300.00
An EP with 5 songs will be a total of:
SGD1300.00 x 5 = SGD6500.00
We will be paying the sessionists as well. That will be discussed soon.
Every Thursday is recording day for zul and i and it has been great so far. Bani Hidir, our producer, is such a great person to work with. We cant thank him enough for all the work he’s put in for our songs.
Our debut single will be ‘Find Me’. A song we wrote 4 years back about wanting to be heard. I cant believe that 4 years later, it’s actually coming true.
We’ve tracked the drums, bass, electric guitar, acoustic guitars, keyboard and violin. It’s sounding really good to me. Zul and i will be tracking our voice soon. Cant wait!
Many options were in our minds when thinking about the venue to hold the EP Launch. We spoke to Bandwagon Asia about it and they suggested doing it at funan mall where there is an entire area run by LYF and they were happy to speak to us more about it. We also thought of doing it at Timbre @ The Substation where every last Tuesday of the month is SG Originals where local artists/bands can apply to play at the event.
This was when Akilesh, our mentor during Noise Music Mentorship 2018 texted us and asked if we would want to play 2 full original sets at Esplanade Concourse. He is a programming officer at Esplanade and we were so thankful!

Of course we said yes?! So here’s one photo of us during the set at Red Dot August!
Thereafter, Akilesh DM-ed me on instagram. This time, he suggested we perform at the Outdoor Theatre. And guess what? It is planned to happen in January 2020. Fits perfectly with our EP Launch. So without any hesitation, we proposed the idea to him and he was happy to help us get a slot to play there!

More about the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre, it offers unparalleled views of the Marina Bay and city skyline, and endless possibilities for performances and events. Fronting the 300m long waterfront along Marina Bay, the outdoor theatre can seat 450 people and accommodate up to 600 standing. The space hosts a diverse range of performances from music to dance and theatre, which can be enjoyed under the starlit sky.
We cant wait to play here!!
We have about 5 months before the show. Meantime, these are more important things i have to do:

A newcomer in the music scene, singer-songwriter JQ x ZUL is a female/male duo that busks in the heartlands of Singapore where crowd varies from different ages. Mixing influences from Acoustic Pop Folk, Pop Rock and Pop-Punk, they were able to create a recipe of their own with a unique sound.
The two met in Temasek Polytechnic back in 2013 but did not play music together until 2015. They did a number of unpaid gigs and decided to branch out into busking in 2017. This earned them many followers and helped put them on the map in the Singapore Acoustic scene.
Currently doing her Diploma in Music at Lasalle College of the Arts, majoring in vocals, JQ made several new friends in music. These close friends along with Zul has become a tight-knit band that realises the music behind JQ x ZUL’s original material.
Previously having worked with Bandwagon Asia for multiple events, they have so far played at Marina Bay Sands, DBS Busking By The Bay, AIA Glow Festival, Singapore Gardens Festival and many more including a private performance for DBS Commemorative Event at The Istana a few weeks back. They were featured in Esplanade’s Red Dot August this year and had recently won Band Blast 2019, a competition organised by Lasalle College of the Arts, and had the opportunity to open for Lasalle RIF 2019. Honoured to be part of the NOISE Music Mentorship Programme 2018, they are currently in the midst of recording their debut EP.
